SW Polk Fire District follows guidelines and recommendations put forth by the Oregon State Fire Marshal for creating defensible space on your property.
"Defensible Space" is defined by the Oregon State Fire Marshal as,
"Any area where combestible materials are treated, cleared, or modified to slow and reduce intensity of wildfire and allow space for fire suppression operations to occur."

Our goal at SW Polk Fire District is to connect with our community by coming out to your property, providing education and recommendations to better protect your house in the case of a fire. Attached below is a checklist for homeowners to go through and evaluate their property.
Southwestern Polk County Fire District is fully committed to providing accessible facilities, elements and
channels of communication to all members of the public. As part of this commitment, Southwestern Polk County Fire District
has a policy of providing an accessible website compatible with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1) and
commercial screen reading software. All features of the website are coded to allow individuals with vision and
