At 6:54 p.m. yesterday, SW Polk Fire District was dispatched to a grass fire on Ellendale Avenue. Units responded from both Salt Creek and Rickreall Community Fire Stations. Upon arrival, crews found a standing grass field with a slow-moving fire that was approximately one-quarter acre, heading toward a church and homes on Ellendale Avenue. The fire was quickly extinguished. Mutual aid was provided by Dallas Fire & EMS . The cause of the fire is under investigation. No injuries were reported, and no structures were damaged.
